چکیده

s: Testosterone deficiency (TD) profoundly affects men’s quality of life. Men receiving testosterone therapy often experience resolution or improvement in their sexual symptoms and non-sexual health benefits. Although testosterone has been available since 1930s, the diagnosis and management of TD can be challenging and many controversies still exist. Clinical assessment based on symptoms and signs with a confirmatory testosterone level below normal range are required for diagnosis of TD. Screening for TD in the general population is not recommended. Screening for TD should be taken in men who report symptoms or signs associated with TD, particularly sexual dysfunctions as well as in men with obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. The International Society for Sexual Medicine recommended that symptomatic men with total T <350 ng/dL (12 nmol/L) should be treated with T therapy and a trial of T therapy in symptomatic men with total T levels >350 ng/dL can be considered based on clinical presentation. Patients who report no symptomatic improvement after at least 3 to 6 months of testosterone therapy despite adequate serum T levels should discontinue treatment.

Positive Correlation between Androgen Receptor CAG Repeat Length and Metabolic Syndrome in a Korean Male Population

PURPOSE In epidemiological studies, there are various associations of androgen receptor (AR) CAG with several diseases or phenotypes. However, the relationship between CAG repeat length and metabolic syndrome (MS) remains unclear, especially in Asian populations. This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between AR CAG repeat length polymorphism and MS in a Korean male population. ...

P-91: Androgen Associated Gene Polymorphism(s) in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome from South Indian Population

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder affecting 4-12% of reproductive women worldwide; characterized by chronic anovulation, clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound scan. Ovarian androgen overproduction is the key pathophysiologic feature of PCOS. A number of genes encoding major enzymes of the androgen meta...

AB173. Effect of testosterone replacement therapy on lipid profile in the patients with testosterone deficiency syndrome

Introduction: The metabolic syndrome (MS) includes a clustering of metabolic derangements and low testosterone levels have been shown to be associated with both components of MS and MS per se. In this study we explored the relationship between androgen receptor (AR) CAG repeat length polymorphism and MS in a Korean male population. Materials and methods: The association between AR CAG repeat le...

Androgen Receptor Gene CAG Repeat Polymorphism Regulates the Metabolic Effects of Testosterone Replacement Therapy in Male Postsurgical Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism

Aim. To evaluate the independent role of androgen receptor (AR) gene CAG repeat polymorphism on metabolic effects of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in male postsurgical hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a condition frequently associated with hypopituitarism and in which the TRT-related metabolic effects are combined with those deriving from concomitant administration of metabolically activ...
